In his speed picking book he talks about a different style of speed picking shredding if you will by combining alternative picking with a bit of sweep picking in 3NPS runs. The Art of Picking, right? He opened lots of doors in my music with his modes video. And in what increments? He explains how everything works and gives lots of examples which could work as exercises , but he doesn't say anything about how to go about learning everything or getting used to it, etc.

Some parts of a passage definately feel better playing with economy picking.
If some guy plays absolutely incredible and tasty stuff but doesn't AP every note, what's the point, is it "no good enough" because he doesn't AP every single note???? I can't stand to do economy picking.
I noticed he also has "Shred Guitar Manifesto," no idea what s;eed video covers. Well, I was thinking of learning this to use for faster soloing and sweeping and then use regular alternate picking for more normal solos and regular arpeggios.
He shows a great way for visualizing the fretboard.

I also gave Gambales stuff a shot many years ago and gave up and stuck to Gilberts alternate-picking style.
